A Very Small Victory

Well, well. It seems like I may have made a difference, after all - at least in a very small way. I was looking through some websites, and I wasn't in a very good mood because this week hasn't been very good, health wise. Anyway, I was feeling quite irritable so when I saw this website: --
I got quite annoyed. It's a psychology website discussing the subject of lying -- basically you need a lot of practice to lie convincingly. They were using a picture of Nick Clegg to illustrate their report. The website was using the logo of the British Science Association to which they were affiliated. Anyway, it just caught me in the wrong mood so I fired off an e-mail to the Association, pointing out that:-
Your Privacy and Terms of use document 13.3 states that you do not wish any material on your websites which may be obscene, indecent, pornographic, vulgar, racist, sexist, discriminatory, offensive, harmful, harassing, threatening, embarrassing, malicious, abusive, hateful, menacing, defamatory, untrue or political;  I'd suggest this page is both offensive (to me) and political.

Now we all know that this sort of thing happens quite a lot to Liberal Democrats in general, as Nick Clegg in particular, and I've often thought that we should be more annoyed about it. Well that's my view. Anyway, result! I received this in reply:-
The branch secretary has been informed, and has agreed that the political nature of the picture accompanying this post, is not in keeping with the aims of the organisation. This will be changed as soon as possible.

And lo and behold, Nick's picture has disappeared from the article.

The moral is - complain more, and frame your complaint in the right way, politely, to the right people. It may have an effect.  Plus, it makes you feel better.
